  • {Living Green} – A Culver City-based one-stop source for non-toxic paints, flooring, finishes, furniture and more. Some offerings available on their website. Sadly, they’re not open on Sundays.
  • {Organic Interior Design} – This Venice-based showroom off the circle offers clean-lined, custom-made 100% organic sofas, luxe bedding, candles, upholstery fabric, art, books and accessories. Staff are designers who live and breath green style — they’re extremely helpful.
  • {Viesso} – This Santa Monica-based shop offers made-to-order soft seating with an eco-modern sensibility. Think sleek, contemporary Italian beds, sofas and sectionals. You choose the color, the fabric, style of legs, finishes, even the size and dimensions can be configured to your specifications. They manufacture locally as well.


  • {Hotel Surplus Outlet} – THE place to find liquidated furniture from five-star hotels. Lots of deals if you’re willing to cruise over the “hill” to Van Nuys. They sell directly to the public and inventory rotates weekly. A good source for affordable armoires, coffee tables, sofas, ottomans in eclectic, transitional styles.
  • {OC Modern} – Mecca of collectible Danish modern furnishings. Gorgeous sideboards, platform beds, tables, sofas and chairs. Online shopping available.
  • {Rose Bowl Flea Market} – Swap meet featuring a bounty of collectibles, furniture, fashion from over 2,200 vendors. Open every second Sunday of the month–rain or shine. Can be overwhelming, so go early and follow these tips.
  • {Surfing Cowboys} – Venice-based atelier filled with mid-century modern furnishings, vintage surf style. Located on artsy Abbot Kinney Blvd. it sports an upscale, yet neighborly vibe. Online shopping available.
  • {Twenty Gauge} – Refurbished American vintage steel furnishings. Custom color your own tanker desks, chairs, cabinets, storage. Online shopping available.
