Eco-glam: Noir Collection Hits the Catwalk

Noir’s eco-luxury collection was the darling of London Fashion Week earlier this year. Danish Designer Peter Ingwersen, the mastermind behind the Noir label is driven by the mission of being “the brand that turned social responsibility sexy.” He set up two fairly traded, organic cotton farms in Africa to develop a sumptuous cotton fabric that mimics the look and feel of silk called Illuminati II. A portion of revenues will be distributed through the Noir Foundation to support Third World countries.
Ingwersen does love his leather, so die-hard veganistas may find some of his pieces not so green.

The high-end line is available at British retailer Harvey Nichols with global retail currently in the works. Equally impressive: the Illuminati II fabric is being made available for sale to the fashion industry.
